The bomb goes off and Stevens finds himself in the pod again. He is sent back another time, yet still cannot find out anything. When he returns, he asks what is going on. Goodwin and Rutledge, the scientist in charge, tell him that he is part of a project that can put someone in another person's consciousness during the last 8 minutes of their life. Quotes from Vera Farmiga
• "I think I approach every character, especially this one [Goodwin] in which the dialogue wasn’t the most compelling dialogue for me. Goodwin is quite the antithesis of the kind of character I’m normally drawn to. I found that to be a challenge and a great acting exercise, too. But it is truly the way I approach most characters – to be fascinated not only by what they are saying, but moreso with what they’re not saying and what is in between the lines, and subtext. I think subtext often speaks more."

• "Yes, incredibly frustrating, because it didn’t actually occur to me, and I don’t know why it didn’t. When you read the script, there’s a scene partner on the written page; and then you get your call sheet, and you’re the only one showing up. And it’s really jarring, because I thought I thought I was going to be working with Jake Gyllenhaal. And I did, ah, for about a week and a half rehearsal we worked together, and sat across from each other. But now I’m in the nature of the roles — as they are spatially — apart, and they have more of a psycho-spiritual connection. So, I think the way we executed it is the only way to do it…was to go solo."

• "I received the script and a request to speak with Duncan Jones, that Duncan would like to have a word if I needed more persuading. I hadn’t seen Moon (2009) at this point, the script came with a DVD copy of it. To be honest just knowing Sam Rockwell was going to be in that film was enough for me to watch it. But I genuinely loved it, I saw it seven more times (laughs). I then pedalled it to everyone I knew. I thought this guy is special, he’s a visionary, he’s got a bold vision and new ideas. I loved the puzzle Moon (2009) was, I reacted to the same puzzling quality Source Code has.

• "The film plays at so many different levels that it’s not just the trickery. Every turn of the page was a shock, and that’s how the script read. You’re just trying to keep up with the ideas that the story presents and the emotions that all the characters experience. There’s so many ways of experiencing this film as a reader.

• "The most difficult thing is having a scene where there’s legitimately two characters, but not being in the presence of each other. Shooting is difficult and acting with those physical limitations, that’s the hard part. But you know, expository dialogue is maddening for an actor. It really is. It’s boring. All it is in information. It’s very difficult to infuse character in it and nuance. And there’s a whole lot of it, for me. So finding my way through that was a challenge. Conveying that in an interesting way was challenging."
