At the EFM, NEO (New Entertainment Organisation) has acquired Closer To the Moon from Celluloid Dreams and producer Michael Fitzgerald.
The English-language comedy drama from Nae Carafil stars Vera Farmiga and Mark Strong. It is a co-production with Italy’s Ugo Tucci; Poland’s Alessandro Leone; and Romania’s Bobby Paulescu.
It has been picked up for US release by IFC for release in June and Poland’s Ultra+Monolith.
Found two rare new videos, one from when Vera presents the best leading actor at the Academy Awards in 2010. She makes a cute speech about George Clooney but he doesn’t win though. The second video is a new behind the scenes video from Closer to the Moon.
Added some rare older production stills and on the set photos form Vera’s previous work and I also found three new stills from her upcoming film Closer to the Moon!
So exciting with new photos and a video of Vera! And this time it is from the set of Closer to the Moon.
Romanian director Nae Caranfil is deep into filming on location on period drama “Closer to the Moon”, starring Vera Farmiga and “Game of Thrones” actor Harry Lloyd, and some promotional and behind the scenes photos and video have been snapped by local journalists.
Set in 1959 Bucharest, the film follows a group of Jewish former anti-Nazi revolutionaries who are arrested and sentenced to death after robbing a bank. Before their scheduled deaths, they are forced to star in a propaganda film for the enemy. Lloyd will play a cameraman assigned to the shoot, who falls in love with Farmiga’s character. She, in turn, has a child with one of the doomed men, played by Mark Strong. Christian McKay, Joe Armstrong, Tim Plester, Anton Lesser and Allan Corduner round out the cast.
The film is expected to shoot through November 7th in Bucharest and be completed by April of 2012 in time to submit to the Cannes Film Festival in May. Below are a behind the scenes video and some photos of Lloyd filming.
